I've been researching different things having to do with WWII and Women's History Month for a project the last couple days and I came across this website today that tells what life was like for children ages 7-9 during WWII in England.

It's pretty interesting.

Wow, thanks for sharing - this is really an interesting site. We have Molly and I announced DD tonight, that there'll be a Molly-movie by the end of this year, so very likely, that we're going to buy Emily afterwards. DD is already excited because of the movie coming up. We read the Molly-book together and there'll be lots of questions after the Molly-movie, I think, so this site will come in handy.

That's a terrific site. Thanks so much for posting about it.
A few years ago, my dd and I were in London. We went to visit the underground war rooms where Churchill and others met while London was being bombed. On the way out, we bought a reproduction ration book. I can only imagine what my m-i-l, who was British and lived through WWII, would have made of it. Here was something people had to live with even though it often meant great hardship and now it's being sold as a popular souvenir. Times really do change!

My Grandma often told me about WW2. She lived in Germany and I loved her stories, when I was a kid. She also had a G?tz-doll, that was dressed very similar to Molly, in her cabinet. The doll is at my parent's house now, but I'll get her, once we move to the new house.
I'm really looking forward to Emily!

another REALLY good book about the same time period is "back home" by michelle magorian... about a girl that was evacuated to the us during the war, and goes back to england right after... meant for slightly older readers... ie 12-14ish, but could be enjoyed by a mature younger girl. it's one i've read at least 15 times....lol
